Bass Anglers Love Wave Tamers Too…

In 2004 Tamer sponsored several bass tournaments, including the popular KBBS in Pennsylvania. This opportunity came about after several contestants used the Wave Tamer floating drift bags because they were so impressed with their ability to control their boats in rough conditions. So this introduced Wave Tamers to bass anglers.

Bass anglers seem to be one of the latest groups to really experience the benefits of this new and exciting product because of the complete boat control and stability it offers while casting.

Simply put, Wave Tamers will not only increase your catch but they’ll really cut down on the wear and tear on you and your equipment caused by the wind.

A Wave Tamer will do 3 things very well, and all at the same time!

1. They slow your boat, 2. They position your boat, and 3. They stabilize your boat.

Now let’s break down each of these areas to see how they fit in with what you’re trying to do.

Slowing your boat; What we tend to picture in our minds is a tranquil setting of calm winds, temps in the 80’s, partly cloudy skies and loads of fish, right? Well you know what we get most of the time is wind, rain and dark skies making handling your boat difficult plus you can’t see the weed beds, rock piles or the submerged timber. The solution is to slow down by using 1 or 2 Wave Tamers. By placing them in different locations on your boat, you’ll be able to make your boat do whatever you want it to do!

*Why slow down? First and foremost, you’ll have better contact with and control of your lure. Top water lures for example are usually slow on the retrieve, so if your boat is moving too fast, you’ll actually end up drifting on top of your cast before you can really work the bait properly.

By simply deploying 1 or 2 Wave Tamers, you will slow you to the speed you need.
We’ve noticed several bass fishermen on the great lakes using them in the wind, dragging tube jigs over rock piles. This is a deadly technique if you can slow your boat enough to your lure stays in their faces longer.

*Why position your boat? Most boats drift bow down wind and by tying a Wave Tamer on different points off the side of your boat, you can make it drift sideways, forward, backwards, bow to the wind, just about any direction you want.

*Why stabilize your boat? This is probably the most important aspect that the Wave Tamer offers for bass anglers. This cuts down on the rocking and surging of your boat and we all know what it’s like when you lay in bed after fishing in the wind all day. That bed is moving for sure! By deploying a Wave Tamer, it will all but eliminate this sensation. I know of several tournament fishermen that use a Wave Tamer more often than not, just for this purpose. Let’s not forget about the importance of having a stable platform to cast from. Just think how much more accurate your casts will be if your feet are steady!

Not every day on the water is as serious as a tournament can be, sometimes its crappies, bluegills and kids. A Wave Tamer can help to see that it’s a comfortable and safe day for everyone because we can’t choose the weather conditions.

Be sure to visit our Bait Tamer section for information on our bait holding products for your catch, plus we have a perfect way to store your live bait when you need it, especially in a bass boat where you can use this Bait Tamer right in your live well with the fish!

Have a great productive day on the water!

Genz on Spoons

Fish slow down in cold water and a slow approach is often needed to catch them in the dead of winter.

But, it’s a different story at first ice or just before ice out, according to Dave Genz,…
