Muskies in the Wind
There is probably no group of fishermen that is affected by the wind more than musky fishermen. Throwing a tree-truck sized bait down wind, then trying to work that bait before you and your boat end up on top of it, is a real accomplishment. Not only do we try and stay in contact with our chosen tidbit but we get to run the boat as well.
Ever heard of a backlash…?
What if I told you that you could make your boat a rock solid platform that tracked straight, plus slowed you down to the point you could work a bait as though the winds were calm , even in a tough blow? Yeah right, when monkeys fly, right?
OK, ok enough of that. The conditions mentioned above aren’t much fun, but they can be so much more manageable by simply using a Wave Tamer floating drift bag.
More and more musky fishermen have caught on to using drift bags to help put fish in the boat, when it’s not very much fun being out there in tough conditions.
Have you ever heard someone say that they headed for shore when the wind picked up?
Having interviewed several of the top musky fishermen in the industry, they’ll tell you that you’re missing out on some of your best fishing by not learning how to properly use a Wave Tamer.
Wave Tamers can handle the stress of trolling, plus they float, and they deploy immediately. There isn’t a better product on the market today because most others will sink, spin or you can’t use them because they just won’t deploy. I personally witnessed fishermen overshoot a spot by 100 yards trying to get a drift sock open, where a Wave Tamer will deploy in a matter of seconds, treasured seconds.
Now think about the Wave Tamer’s ability to float. Picture this, you’re drifting along casting into a spot where you know has fish, all of a sudden the line is tight and the reel is whining. The fish all of a sudden goes under the boat and you think, that crazy fish is going to get tangled up in my drift bag! OK, no problem with the Wave Tamer, simply unhook it from the cleat. (Don’t do this with any other bag because it will sink and you’ll be out of luck). Cradle your fish and motor back to retrieve the Wave Tamer because it’s on the surface waiting for you. Now if you’re not too tired from that last fight, it’s onto the next!
