Lindy-Rigging For More Walleyes
When trolling or and drifting, especially with heavy sinkers, simply drop the baited Lindy Rig over the side of the boat and send it toward the bottom. Casting with a "kerplunk" both injures and loses live bait.

When trolling with a number of lines, graduate sinker weights--heavy sinkers forward, lighter ones dragging back--to keep lines apart.
If you're on new water and uncertain about the walleye's depth, start out shallow and work successively deeper contours, paying close attention to change--in depth, in the structure's contour or shape, and in bottom material. Walleyes like changes or "breaks" in the bottom.
Since walleyes often school tightly, you'll want to mark a spot as soon as you hook your first fish. The Lindy Marker Buoy is an ideal weighted marker with plenty of line that fits in your tackle box. It's designed for your own on-the-spot fishing and cannot be seen from across the lake!
Inspect your Lindy Rig and bait frequently. Remove all weeds and foreign matter from sinker, swivel-clip and hook. Reject bait that has been scratched, chewed or torn. Replace frayed or worn snells.
The Floating Lindy Rig is a unique slip sinker/live bait rig designed especially for holding bait off the bottom at the angler's choice depth. This rig is effective for catching both bottom huggers and suspended fish!
The Floating Rig consists of slip sinker, swivel clip and special Lindy Floating Snell on which slides an adjustable colored float. The float is held at the desired distance from the bait by positioning a red bead stopper. By adjusting the stopper and float, you can keep bait above the bottom--an inch or two, or the full length of the snell. Some of the advantages of the Floating Rig are:
-The Floating Rig prevents minnows from losing themselves in grass or in crevices between rocks. Nightcrawlers and leeches are held above bottom to display their writhing and undulating actions.
-The Floating Rig makes it possible to fish for suspended fish without spooking. While the sinker rests on bottom--away from bait and fish--the angler feeds line through the sinker until the Floating Snell rises to the fish zone. When using this method, the boat should be stopped or barely moving. If fish are suspended high above the bottom, it may be necessary to select small leeches and minnows for successful floating. Regardless of depth or distance from bottom, always inflate nightcrawlers with a Worm Blower.
-The Floating Rig adds color to live bait presentations, even at speeds too slow for turning a spinner blade. When fish are touchy and spinner-shy, the Floating Rig offers color without the "hardware".
-The Floating Rig agitates live bait for extra action. Minnows, leeches, and nightcrawlers swim wildly as they attempt to "fight" the float.
